Listen: Angel Olsen's "Waving, Smiling"

With her new record Whole New Mess landing on August 28, indie powerhouse Angel Olsen has given a second glimpse of her fifth studio effort, sharing a brand new track Waving, Smiling. The new album, which follows her last year's baroque pop outing All Mirrors, features alternate versions of nine of the songs from the album and is already shaping up to be yet another outstanding effort, what with the ominous title song characterised by a stripped-down guitar strum that beautifully underpins her soaring vocals. Waving, Smiling continues that trend with an unadorned, folk-flavoured production, set around a simple, but no less effective, riff that lends it a distinct old-world charm. Listen below -
