Music Review: Mupparimanam (Tamil)
Composer(s): G. V. Prakash Kumar

Sokki Poraandi, while evoking 90's A. R. Rahman, is a lovely rustic folk piece, at the same time featuring first-rate vocals from Al Rufian and Maalavika Sundar. Vijay Prakash rules the mesmerising Uyirile Uyirile, and the composer, for his part, interleaves his voice with an assortment of flute, violins and tabla that's at once arresting. The soundtrack's freshness however dips the instant it steps into techno territory, the tunes themselves unexceptional and barely interesting despite all the pacy beats thrown in. Mupparimanam proves G. V. Prakash can do better if he wants to, but is that enough?
