Music Review: Thaandavam
G. V. Prakash may not have had an impressive debut in Bollywood with Joker, but he continues to churn out great compositions in Tamil. Thaandavam is what I am talking about. Yaaradi Mohini is groovy and Rahul Nambiar's vocals add the necessary pep to it. Haricharan, accompanied by Vandana Srinivasan, is brilliant in the mesmerizing Oru Paadhi Kadhavu (there does seem to be a Akkam Pakkam feel to this song however), while Will You Be There (Alyssa, Maria) is gorgeously tuned, though it has shades of Endhan Kann Munnae (Nanban, Harris Jayaraj).
Adhigaalai Pookkal, sung by G. V. Prakash himself, is short and beautiful and so is its instrumental variant A Poem For You. Saindhavi, who always gets the best if we go by their past associations, excels in Uyirin Uyire; a song that evokes strong memories of his own Pookal Pookum (Madrasapattinam). The folksy Anicham Poovazhagi (G.V.Prakash Kumar, Chinna Ponnu, Velmurugan) works decently, and the last track Siva Thaandavam (S. P. Balasubrahmanyam) merely scrapes through. Great melodies lift this OST to great heights!
