Music Review: ABCD – Any Body Can Dance (Hindi)

Composer(s): Sachin-Jigar
Film: ABCD – Any Body Can Dance

ABCD starts off auspiciously with an invocation of lord Ganesha in Shambhu Sutaya that's high on percussion, and singers Shankar Mahadevan and Vishal Dadlani bring in their manic energy to power the track. Tune-wise, it's a pretty middling one though. Bezubaan, in one word, is just fantastic and the melody rap combo works beautifully with strong vocal support from Mohit Chauhan and Priya Panchal (with the rap portions sung by Tanvi Shah and Deane Sequeira). Accompanied by nadaswaram and strong beats, Psycho Re (Mika Singh, Udit Narayan) is almost a Tamil kuthu number and at places reminds one of A. R. Rahman's Maduraikku Pogathadee (Azhagiya Tamil Magan). Yet, the song's catchiness cannot be denied!

Anuskha Manchanda rules the rock-flavoured Mann Basiyo Sanwariyo (much like she did in Piya Kesariyo), while Shankar Mahadevan's son Raman Mahadevan joins hands with Jigar Saraiya for the peppy Chandu ki Girlfriend. The minimalist rock-based Duhaai is treated with great flourish even as Madhav Krishna does ample justice in the singing department. The OST then shifts to dance mode with yet another heady and instantly arresting concoction Sorry, Sorry, and in the short and anthemic Kar Ja Re Ya Mar Ja Re, Suraj Jagan does an impeccable job of the singing. Sadda Dil Vi Tu (Ga Ga Ga Ganpati) caps off the album on an epic note, offering an impressive musical potpourri of sorts topped by Hard Kaur's equally brilliant rendition. Sachin-Jigar may be back after almost a gap of one year, but they have proved once again that they are a composer-duo to be looked out for!
