Just like the Teddy that came before, Naan Thaan Siva too comes with the typical D. Imman bells and whistles, only he is in much better form this time around. Pattaasa Antha Ponnu, sung by Deepak Blue, builds on a lilting acoustic soundbed, while Ayyayoo Yenna Solla has a lovely sprinkle of ghatam and strings going for it, complemented superbly by singers Ranjith and Vandana Srinivasan. Yedho Yedho Aasai is the kind of Imman tune we have heard too many times before, but his decision to rope in Shreya Ghoshal to handle the exquisite melody pays off wonderfully. Vanthathu Kaadhalena's contemporary acoustic-leaning pathos stands out in a soundtrack otherwise populated by rustic numbers, but Darrunu takes you right back to the rural heartland with its traditional folk flourishes and a groovy rhythmic arrangement that's layered against singer Priya Subramanian's peppy vocals. Adi Aathi, in Aalaap Raju and Santosh Hariharan's phenomenal rendition, is where everything comes together so well, with Imman crafting an euphonious melody that's propelled along by an arresting blend of Celtic and classical elements. Naan Thaan Siva is familiar yet melodious stuff from a composer who has by now perfected the art of consistently delivering good music.
