Coming off the twin successes of Varathan and Kumbalangi Nights, composer Sushin Shyam weaves a hypnotic cut that are ornate string compositions ranging from the long and sprawling, exceptionally matching the atmosphere and tone of the film with an intriguing score spanning across 17 instrumentals that incorporate some of electronic music's contours with free-flowing, melancholic strings, and pulsating synth riffs, creating ominous, disorienting soundscapes that seamlessly morph from one contrasting mood to the other, alternating between uneasy bleakness and hope. Virus is easily the best and one of the most riveting soundtracks released by far this year.
