Listen: Electric Youth's "The Life"

My love for contemporary synth-pop and new wave in recent years can be traced all the way back to the 2011 Nicolas Winding Refn film Drive, which featured Kavinsky's Nightfall, and College and Electric Youth's burbling synth-pop confection A Real Hero. Electric Youth would go on to make their full-fledged debut in 2014, but after more than nearly five years, the Ontario duo of Austin Garrick and Bronwyn Griffin are gearing up for their sophomore full-length outing that comes out later this August. Yeah, that's still a few months away, but you can get a taste of what the album sounds like right now with The Life, a swirling synth-washed jam that builds into a rousing crescendo of sorts.
