Music Review: Ghanchakkar (Hindi)

Composer(s): Amit Trivedi
Film: Ghanchakkar

Lazy Lad's folk mix is adequately perky and it is Richa Sharma's superb singing that elevates it every bit. Divya Kumar of Shubhaarambh fame is first rate in the insanely catchy qawwali-styled Allah Meherbaan, even as the composer's pitch-perfect vocals powers Oye Ghanchakkar Babu, a quirky title track that's curiously addictive in its own way for its interesting arrangements and an equally well supported chorus (if you can get past the Motorwada semblance!). The heavy on brass Jholu Ram (Altaf Raja) is perhaps more notable for its lyrical aspect than on the situational tune it's based on. Not quite exceptional, but Amit Trivedi is back with another wacky soundtrack after Aiyyaa that should jell in very well with the wacky theme of the movie.
