Movie Review: Skyfall

Skyfall
It's the fiftieth year of the James Bond saga that began with Dr. No in 1962. The fictitious British secret service agent created by Ian Fleming has undergone numerous adaptations, both in books and movies, and yet he remains one of the most suave and enigmatic characters in literary history. And Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes, is no different. The story, centred around cyberterrorism and Bond's investigation of an attack on MI6, is dramatically gripping and puts as much emphasis on strong characterisations as it does on action set-pieces, making it a thrilling watch. Javier Bardem as the diabolical antagonist gets a role of a lifetime and he sinks his teeth into the character with astounding panache. Judi Dench as M is very effective as the reprimanding boss, while other members of the cast including Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw do justice to their parts. As for Daniel Craig, who reprises the character of Bond for the third time, he exudes a rakish charm and pulls off death-defying machismo with élan, making him a perfect fit for the role. Highly recommended!
