Movie Review: Deiva Thirumagal
Deiva Thirumagal is a poignant effort from director Vijay. As a story which revolves around a little girl and the bond she shares with her mentally challenged father, it manages to tackle the subject quite maturely despite its flaws, thanks to riveting performances from Vikram and baby Sara, and strong production values, courtesy Nirav Shah (cinematography) and G. V. Prakash (music, Vizhigalil Oru Vaanavil and Aariro are a sheer delight to listen). In all, a good drama high on melodrama.
What works: Performances, Cinematography, Music, Portrayal of the father-daughter emotional bond
What doesn't: A tad boring and predictable first half, Behind-the-scene strategies in the courtroom sequences are ludicrous and incredulous
