Heavy Rotation: DIIV, TOPS, ZHU & More
DIIV's Dopamine ranks as my top favourite this week, among other singles from Deerhunter, New Order, Ryan Adams and others...
all i ever need (dd elle aka Dan Casey) - There is something akin to Mas Ysa somewhere, yet the song is futuristic and very psychedelic.
Breaker (Deerhunter) - An ethereal sounding guitary melody from the Atlanta-based indie rock outfit.
Dopamine (DIIV) - The hazy single indeed lives up to its name, it's such a pleasure and rewarding listen!
Salvatore (Lana Del Rey) - Yet another atmospheric jazzy number in Lana Del Rey's dreamy vocals from her upcoming album Honeymoon.
Dream (Long Beard) - A short, but gorgeous ditty accentuated by those beautiful guitars.
Plastic ft. La Roux (New Order) - The burbling synths are rocking, aren't they?
Bad Blood (Ryan Adams) - Yes, this is a cover version of Taylor Swift's Bad Blood. But stripped off Kendrick Lamar's out of place rap verses and given an acoustic makeover (listen above).
Anything (TOPS) - I loved the indie rock band TOPS's Blind Faze, but their latest whispery single is a superb follow-up, mellow and incredibly pleasant.
Automatic (ZHU & AlunaGeorge) - Can dance and trance go together? Yes, this synth-piano-laden tune is ample proof. And a fabulous sax to top it all!
