Music Review: Khiladi 786

How I wish if Himesh would not sing his own compositions! A listen to the words 'lonely lonely' is enough to make you cringe, and Yo Yo Honey Singh and Hamsika Iyer's presence doesn't add any sort of value. Balma thankfully is much better, and Sriram and Shreya Ghoshal's vocals aid the percussion track big time. Mika Singh exudes great energy in the short techno-Punjabi composition Long Drive, and Sari Sari Raat is melodious if not for the excessive voice modulation from Himesh's part.

Hookah Bar feels like a reboot of Edward Maya's Stereo Love but is damn addictive. I get that love can be intoxicating, but equating it a hookah bar (Tera Pyaar Pyaar.. Hookah Bar goes the line...)? Bollywood lyrics have reached a new low! The title track's (Vineet Singh, Aman Trikha, Yashraj Kapil, Alam Gir Khan, Rajdeep Chatterjee) history can be traced all the way back to Omkara but nevertheless works quite nicely. Well supported by Javed Ali, Shreya Ghoshal, Chandrakala Singh and Harshdeep Kaur, Tu Hoor Pari's native Punjabi flavour is its highlight. Khiladi 786 is no Khiladi in music.
