Music Review: Talaash

Ram Sampath is back after a year's hiatus (if we can excuse his Satyamev Jayate outing this year) with yet another Aamir Khan flick Talaash. Does he fare better than Delhi Belly? A resounding yes! The jazzy club number Muskaanein Jhooti Hai is enchanting and Suman Sridhar's vocals are a perfect match, while Vishal Dadlani's coarse rendition makes the sedate melody Jee Le Zaraa work beautifully. Sona Mohapatra and Ravindra Upadhyay join together in the brilliant semi-classical Jiya Lage Na, its orchestration being the high point. Hona Hai Kya (Ram Sampath) suits the movie's theme admirably and the incorporation of synth elements are done very well. Sung by the composer again, Laakh Duniya Kahe is the only weak link perhaps for being a templatized rock track, but still manages to hold on its own to some extent. Talaash is unconventional and grows on you!
