Listen: Burial's "State Forest"

Enigmatic South London electronic producer Burial hasn't had a new album since 2007's Untrue, but prolific he has been otherwise, releasing a steady stream of EPs over the course of several years. The last time we heard from William Emmanuel Bevan, he was busy shape-shifting, pulling inspiration and sonic signatures from many different realms. Then came the clubbier rave anthems Pre Dawn and Indoors. But suffice to say, he is back after a gap of almost three years with a new EP featuring two songs Claustro and State Forest that couldn't be more far apart from another. Claustro, which was released about two weeks ago, is a skittery, uptempo track, but State Forest is a lot more ambient and unsettling, opting instead for an eight-minute long stretch of beatless atmosphere that's at once brooding and twisted.
