Music Review: Arjun Reddy (Telugu)

Composer(s): Radhan

Emitemitemo and Telisiney Na Nuvvey both feature an immensely arresting rock base, with singers Alphonse Joseph and Revanth hitting all the right notes with their pitch-perfect singing. Revanth also croons the serene Hindustani composition Oopiri Aaguthunnadhey, even as Sowjanya's spotless singing of Gundelonaa borders on ethereal, her beautiful voice taking centre-stage in the minimalist melody. Madhuram is a wacky Carnatic-dubstep fusion and the surprising part is that the tune, complemented superbly by Sameera Bharadwaj, totally works. Dhooram, in one word, is splendorous and solidly backed by Nikhita Gandhi's soft, whispery vocals, while Mari Mari is as much a showcase of Gowthami's endearing rendition as it's of Radhan's arresting blend of classical and waltz music. Arjun Reddy, without doubt, is the most refreshingly different soundtrack I've heard in Telugu this year.
