Music Review: Jailer (Tamil)
Composer(s): Anirudh Ravichander

Jailer, Anirudh Ravichander's latest outing as a composer, is banal and run of the mill, with a majority of the tracks an interchangeable and unmemorable mix of heavy electronic sounds that's bereft of any originality. Thankfully, Ravichander has a smashing saviour in Jujubee, an intoxicating Arabesque fusion that juxtaposes Dhee's solid vocals against a constantly morphing techno production. The second highpoint is Rathamaarey, a breezy melody that takes you back to Amit Trivedi's Iktara from Wake Up Sid (2009) and Rahul Raj's Lailakame from Ezra (2017).

Good to see you back with another review. I thought that with Nelson directing this movie, Anirudh could produce a very good album along the lines of Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor. Sadly, the weight of composing for a Rajini-starrer has gotten the best of him, yet again.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Anirudh's music for Rajini's movies seem to be hit-or-miss. We have Jawaan next!
