Music Review: Rang De (Telugu)

Emito Idhi, its melodic strings-leaning soundbed aside, finds Devi Sri Prasad rehashing his own tried-and-tested format with ear-pleasing results. Bus Stande in no different, but the tedium is offset by an spirited electronic groove that becomes a launchpad for some uncomplicated, joyous pop. Sung by Sid Sriram, the utterly delightful Naa Kanulu Yepudu piles layers of strings against its carnatic motifs, even as DSP's decision to rope in Shweta Mohan to handle Rangule pays off wonderfully. Oorantha is the soundtrack's highlight, a cracker of a folk piece adorned with rhythmic arrangements, not to mention a flawless Mangli, who wows with an arresting rendition. Devi Sri Prasad bounces back with a colourful medley of sounds in Rang De.
