Listen: Spielbergs' "Forevermore"

Spielbergs made an astounding debut with Distant Star EP last April, but with their first full-length outing This is Not the End, the Oslo-based indie-rock trio — comprising of Mads Baklien (singer and Senior Librarian at University of Oslo), Stian Brennskag (bass) and Christian Løvhaug (drums) — craft an arresting blend of highly contagious, anthemic bangers that proves their success was no fluke. It's everything a garage punk record should be, equal parts fast and slow, ridiculously catchy and pulse-quickening, steeped in a palette rich in ambient interludes, melodious harmonies (Familiar, Sleeper), pummeling drums and frenzied guitarwork, culminating in an album that feels just as upbeat and intense. From start to finish, it's relentless in its tempo, bristling with energy and urgency, whipping the listener through a rollercoaster of euphoria, rarely pausing in between for a breather. THIS IS NOT THE END, indeed!
