Listen: Eli Keszler's "Empire"
Consummate percussionist and visual artist Eli Keszler conjures intricate soundscapes, often driven by rippling chord progressions and kinetic beats, while capturing the "intersections of melody, restraint and rhythm" so beautifully. In Empire, the new three-track EP, he experiments further along those lines to carve a sonic space that's about "finding stillness, tranquility and beauty in a dystopian landscape," at the same time coating the compositions with muted drums, wind chimes, gentle piano melodies and other clinking sounds that's exquisitely harmonic and richly textured.
