Music Review: Kodi (Tamil)

Composer(s): Santhosh Narayanan

The title song sounds almost like a rehash of Veera Thurandhara (Kabali), even as Ariraro's (Chithra making her singing debut for Santhosh) strings-laden lullaby is child's play for Santhosh. Still, it's hard not to notice its resemblance to G. V. Prakash Kumar's Vizhigalil Oru Vaanavil (Deiva Thirumagal). Sirukki Vaasam's interesting guitar flourishes cannot make up for its less than engaging tune, while the pedestrian folk number Vettu Pottu works for the energetic vocals of Shankar Mahadevan. Vijaynarain does well singing the quirky synth-folk fusion Ei Suzhali (Are you getting a Rasathi vibe? Because I am!), in what's the soundtrack's best. For a film titled Kodi, Santhosh Narayanan's music sadly doesn't let it flutter high.
