Music Review: Roy (Hindi)
Composer(s): Amaal Mallik, Ankit Tiwari, Meet Bros Anjjan
Listen to the songs online here: Saavn
Season favourite Arijit Singh and Aditi Singh Sharma rock the thumping electro dance number Sooraj Dooba Hain and the I must say Amaal Mallik's beats are sick! Meet Bros Anjjan's Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan, in Kanika Kapoor's vocals, is strictly functional and one cannot help but shake off the tune's Baby Doll flavour. The rest of soundtrack rightfully belongs to Ankit Tiwari, bearing the composer's distinctive style, but melodious all the same. Tu Hai Ki Nahi's beautiful romantic ballad soars in Tiwari's heartfelt vocals and its splendid orchestration, only to come undone in its guitary Unplugged variant, thanks to Tulsi Kumar. Boond Boond is wonderfully dreamy, ethereal even (that sarangi/ektara interlude is beautiful), while KK rules the plaintive Yaara Re. Roy is a winner all the way, a superb musical hodge-podge!
