Music Review: Vathikuchi (Tamil)
Composer(s): M. Ghibran
Film: Vathikuchi
Vaagai Sooda Vaa was one of my favorite soundtracks of 2011 and now almost one and a half years later, composer M. Ghibran is back with Vathikuchi. Debutant Sundar Narayana Rao is absolutely bewitching in the brilliantly composed Kuru Kuru that employs violin to stunning effect. Amma Wake Me Up (Shruthi Ravi, Anita, Shabir) is an addictive acapella and once again Ghibran's impeccable arrangements make this one a must listen. Kanna Kanna's unconventional melody notwithstanding, Sundar Narayana Rao aces this impressive western-Tamil folk mix with his fantastic vocals. Shabir is admirably first-rate in the racy and invigorating Ari Unnai as the soundtrack closes on a pulsating note with the Theme Music that incorporates violins and thumping percussion to leave you spellbound with its mind-blowing orchestration. M. Ghibran's musical prowess is on full show in Vathikuchi.
