Music Review: Onbathula Guru (Tamil)
Composer(s): K
Film: Onbathula Guru
Vaa Machi (M. L. R. Karthikeyan, Mukesh, Velmurugan), despite being the typical drunken kuthu, is quite catchy, while Vidhavidhamaga, with peppy vocals from Vijay Prakash and Chinmayi, works very well as a Celtic-Indian classical fusion. Theera Theera (Anand Aravindakshan, K, Sean Roldan, Premji), its similarity to Andangkaka notwithstanding, is more messy than wacky, and the lesser said about Alayadhe Summa Summa and Maida Maidanam, the better. Maida... in particular appears to be strongly inspired by Vishal-Shekhar's Sheila Ki Jawani. With Onbathula Guru, K goes the mainstream route with less than pleasing results.
