Music Review: Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal

With Na. Muthukamar's poetic lyrics to give company, Nandini Srikar sounds absolutely divine in the brilliant classical melody Aaha Kaadhal Konji Pesudhe, while Kaadhal Endhan Kaadhal — sung splendidly by Neha Bhasin of Pesugiren Pesugiren and Poraney Poraney fame — is complemented by a lovely assortment of nadaswaram and morsing. Karthik and Shweta Mohan rock the mellifluous duet Mazhai Mazhai, the beats and arrangements beautifully capturing the essence of pattering rain. Padapadakkudhu Maname, with its catchy repetitive accordion hook, is an arresting mix of melody and rap, and singers Krish and Blaaze provide solid vocal support. Yuvan's rendition works aptly for the spiffy dubstep-leaning Unakkaagave Uyir Vaazhgiren, even as the album closer Stop The Paatu turns out to be a peppy kuthu in Ramesh Vinayakam's effective rendition. Music has always been a strong point in Vasanth's movies right from Keladi Kanmani, and Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal reiterates it once again. Yuvan easily delivers his career best, crafting what's a forward-facing soundtrack that's both euphoric as it's intoxicating.
