Music Review: Mugamoodi

Vaayamoodi Summa Iru Da, ably supported by Aalap Raju, is an instant winner, the tune and the orchestration making it all the more intoxicating. Kudi Vaazhthu aka Bar Anthem (Mysskin springs a surprise as a singer) is more on the lines of Kannadasan Karaikudi (Anjathe, Sundar C. Babu), but ironically melodious given its sombre theme, complete with an arresting violin interlude taken from maestro Ilaiyaraaja's 1976 composing debut Annakili (Annakili Unnai), while Chinmayi brings out the pathos very well in Maayavi. The seven theme pieces (three of them being instrumental versions of Maayavi and Vaayamoodi), though lacking the punch of Yuddham Sei, admirably suit the superhero setting of the film, the pick of the lot being Don't Drive Your Car With This Music On, Blue Panther On The Prowl and Lullaby for Loss. K scores a near-perfect hat-trick with Mugamoodi.
