Music Review: Jannat 2
The sleeper-hit Jannat boasted of crackling songs composed by Pritam Chakraborty and Kamran Ahmed (remember Zara Sa and Judaai?), and no wonder the sequel again sees Pritam in charge of music. The opener Tu Hi Mera is vintage Pritam melody on the lines of Pee Loon (Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai), aided by Shafqat Amanat Ali on the vocals. Continuing the Sufi style is the lilting Tera Deedar Hua with pitch-perfect vocals from Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The other version — Tera Deedar Hua (From the Heart) — works even better, thanks to Javed Ali, who is in his element with his fantastic rendition. Ably supported by K. K. and Nikhil D'Souza in the singing department, Tujhe Sochta Hoon/Sang Hoon Tere makes for a sublime listen, while the splendorous Rab Ka Shukrana (in two versions) finds singers Mohit Chauhan and Anupam Amod hitting all the right notes with their fabulous vocals. Jannat's Zara Sa gets a makeover in Jannatein Kahan, the ballad version by Nikhil D'Souza deserving a special mention. Jannat 2 sees Pritam staging a winning comeback.
