Music Review: Mayilu
Music maestro Ilaiyaraaja's score is perhaps best known for its rustic feel and his latest Mayilu is no exception. Namaloda Paduthanda (Karthik, Tippu, Saindhavi) and Kalyanaman Kalyanam (Reeta, Chinna Ponnu, Tippu) are typical Raja songs, while Aadhisokka (Reeta), despite having a great tune, is let down by a tad overwhelming orchestration. If Enna Kutham (Ilaiyaraaja, Darshini) is outdated, Sriram Parthasarathy and Bhavatharini make the synth-coated Yathea a wonderful listen. Thukkamenna, sung by Sriram and Reeta, becomes the highlight with a tune that's evocative of his earlier melodious compositions. Two outstanding tracks make Mayilu worth listenable!
