If the music of Sadak 2 is anything to go by, it's evident that the Bhatt camp is as reluctant as ever to ditch their brand of brooding, treacly sweet melancholia anytime soon. Malang (Mohit Suri, the film's director and Mahesh Bhatt's nephew, has been instrumental in patenting this sound over the years), its largely formulaic template aside, had a smashing saviour in Humrah. But nothing redeems Sadak 2. Not only it doesn't break that sorry pattern, almost every beat sounds recycled, generic and dated — Tum Se Hi is a straight up rework of Galliyan — making it a tepid revisiting that doesn't quite check the right boxes. Jeet Gannguli's Shukriya shows flashes of a better song it could have been, while Javed Ali's effortless vocal delivery comes to the aid of Suniljeet-composed hymnal melody Ishq Kamaal, even if it traverses the same sonic space as Pritam's Pee Loon. But for the most part, Sadak 2 is a road better off unexplored.
