Music Review: Aashiqui 2 (Hindi)
Composer(s): Ankit Tiwari, Jeet Gannguli, Mithoon
Film: Aashiqui 2
Mithoon gets to compose three of the total 11 songs and I must say he does complete justice to each one of them. The sweeping romantic ballad Tum Hi Ho (in two versions - solo by Arijit Singh and a duet alongside Palak Muchchal) is just spectacular in every conceivable way and the piano-laden instrumental Aashiqui (The Love Theme) is minimal and alluring. Ankit Tiwari's rendition of Sunn Raha Hai works wonders for the rock-flavored track and Shreya Ghoshal sings it in her own inimitable style in the second version. The rest of the OST has been set to tune by Jeet Gannguli to mixed results, with Bhula Dena (Mustafa Zahid) emerging the pathos-soaked highlight. Aashiqui 2 is quite a solid musical effort although it doesn't live up to the original. Now, will some one give more chances for the Mithoon guy...? Please!
