Music Review: Cocktail

Yo Yo Honey Singh's Angreji Beat from his last year's album International Villager makes all the right noises for Cocktail, making it an electrifying dance-floor scorcher. Tumhi Ho Bandhu, sung by Neeraj Shridhar and Kavita Seth (of Iktara fame), is pulsating and bloody infectious, while Daaru Desi carries the peppy ride forward, with Benny Dayal and Shalmali Kholgade (Pareshaan) confidently taking over the reins. Appearing in two versions, Yaariyan is a fantastic melody bolstered by stupendous singing from Mohan Kannan, Shilpa Rao, Arijit Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan. Second Hand Jawaani is more of the middle-of-the-road kind despite its nifty thumping beats, but Tera Naam Japdi Phiran and Jugni turn out to be mighty appealing and lively, with the inventive and brilliantly composed Luttna ending the soundtrack on a high. Pritam scores a perfect hat-trick in Cocktail after Jannat 2 and Ferrari Ki Sawaari.
