Music Review: Jailer (Tamil)

Composer(s): Anirudh Ravichander
Listen to the songs online here: JioSaavn

Jailer, Anirudh Ravichander's latest outing as a composer, is banal and run of the mill, with a majority of the tracks an interchangeable and unmemorable mix of heavy electronic sounds that's bereft of any originality. Thankfully, Ravichander has a smashing saviour in Jujubee, an intoxicating Arabesque fusion that juxtaposes Dhee's solid vocals against a constantly morphing techno production. The second highpoint is Rathamaarey, a breezy melody that takes you back to Amit Trivedi's Iktara from Wake Up Sid (2009) and Rahul Raj's Lailakame from Ezra (2017).

  1. Good to see you back with another review. I thought that with Nelson directing this movie, Anirudh could produce a very good album along the lines of Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor. Sadly, the weight of composing for a Rajini-starrer has gotten the best of him, yet again.

    1. I agree! Anirudh's music for Rajini's movies seem to be hit-or-miss. We have Jawaan next!
