Music Review: Anarkali (Malayalam)
Composer(s): Vidyasagar

The mappila pattu-like Aa Oruthi Avaloruthi, the ghazal'ish Sahibaa Innethumegha, sung impeccably by Hariharan, and the qawwali'esque Mohabbath Mein are all engaging and highly listenable, while Karthik and Shweta Mohan lend their voices to the lilting, if familiar, Ee Thanutha Manchurangal. That leaves us with Vaanam Chaayum, an astounding semi-classical techno fusion a la A. R. Rahman's Theendai that screams Vidyasagar from the word go. And my God, what beautiful singing by K. S. Harisankar! Dominated by tablas and middle-eastern sounds, Anarkali is as melodious as a Vidyasagar soundtrack can get.
