Music Review: Vanavarayan Vallavarayan (Tamil)
Composer(s): Yuvan Shankar Raja

Kongunattu Thendralukkum's nadaswaram-thavil-laden arrangements are foot-tapping, but Karthik Raja and Venkat Prabhu are definitely not the right choice for singing the track. Yuvan's limitations as a singer are once again writ large in Tharaimelae Irunthae Naan besides the fact that the tune is standard Yuvan territory. The composer's staple Vijay Yesudas is fantastic in the folksy melody Thakaaliku Thavaniya and Renu too gives the perfect vocal purchase. Viduda Ponnungale Venam Venam is your typical love-failure song and the techno-kuthu offers nothing new, while Manikka Vinayagam does his part well in the melancholic Manasu Ingae. Vaangamma Vangappa, its cringe-worthy lyrics aside, is uninspiring and dull. A poor show by Yuvan in Vanavarayan Vallavarayan!
