Music Review: Lootera (Hindi)
Composer(s): Amit Trivedi
Film: Lootera
Monali Thakur is in fine form in the retro'ish and incredibly mellifluous Sawaar Loon, while Ankahee's dreamy arrangements work wonders, bolstered further by Amitabh Bhattacharya, who nails it with his spotless rendition. The sweeping orchestration of the guitary Shikayatein is outright gorgeous, and equally fantastic is Mohan Kanan's vocals. Monta Re's folky touches are lovely and makes for a pleasant listen, courtesy Swanand Kirkire. Amit himself sings the arresting soft-rock melody Zinda in his inimitable style, even as he stuns with Manmarziyan, a mesmerizing melody aptly complemented by Shilpa Rao, Amit and Amitabh Bhattacharya on the vocals and an enticing mix of santoor and violins. Amit Trivedi redeems himself after a middling Bombay Talkies and a so-so Ghanchakkar with a terrific Lootera!
