Music Review: Pizza

Santhosh Narayanan definitely held promise when I listened to Attakathi and he doesn't disappoint in Pizza either. Mogathirai (Pradeep Kumar) is more on the lines of his debut offering but is assuredly pleasing in a good way. Haricharan throws a surprise in the retro-disco-styled Rathiri Decent and he pulls it off quite well too. Though the track comes in two other versions, they barely pass muster. Engo Odugindrai's grunge appeal works in its favour, as is the singers Alphonse Joseph and Darshana's pitch-perfect rendition. Santhosh goes experimental again in the jazzy but slow Dhinakkudha (Gaana Bala), while the remaining instrumental pieces, Pizza Theme and Mogathirai Prelude (Phil Hartl) are fantastic, the violin bits in particular. Pizza is truly an exotic concoction!
