Book Review: Mrs McGinty's Dead

Mrs. McGinty's
Dead
Mrs McGinty, a charwoman, dies from a heavy blow to the back of her head. With the evidence implicating her lodger James Bentley, he is convicted of murder and condemned to death. But Supt. Spence, convinced that there is more to the murder than meets the eye, enlists the support of the Belgian Hercule Poirot to find out the truth. As with other Agatha Christie mysteries, Mrs McGinty's Dead is an easily readable work of detective fiction. Humour is mined from Poirot's stay at a country guesthouse owned by the Summerhayes while he tries to rescue Bentley from the gallows. The twists and turns keep you glued, as Poirot secretly confides his findings to a select few people (in the absence of Hastings) with interesting results. A fun read!
