Recent Listens: Mithoon, Sachin-Jigar, Vidysagar & More

Some of the recent listens from Mithoon, Sachin-Jigar and a little more of A. R. Rahman and Ilaiyaraaja...

Madno (Mithoon, Lamhaa) - Easily the best from Mithoon, so mesmerising and tranquil in Kshitij Tarey and Chinmayi's stupendous vocals. Woh Ajnabee comes a close second!

O Jaana, Maahi (Raaz: The Mystery Continues) - If Raju Singh ropes in a fantastic-sounding K.K. to do the singing in O Jaana, brother duo Sharib-Toshi deliver a sweeping stunner of a melody in Maahi.

Awaaz (Sachin-Jigar, F.A.L.T.U) - The anthemic nature of the melody aside, it features a gorgeous flute interlude that was my phone's ringtone at one point!

Thaen Thaen (Vidyasagar, Kuruvi) - I just love the orchestration and Shreya Ghoshal's honey-sweet voice!

Sahara (Sivaji, A. R. Rahman) - Though I like the movie version (mainly because of Chinmayi), this variant sung by Vijay Prakash and Gomathishree is more minimalist and simply astounding.

Dil Ka Rishta (Yuvvraaj, A. R. Rahman) - Too many cooks spoil the broth they say, but not Dil Ka Rishta. Sonu Nigam, Benny Dayal, Roop Kumar Rathod and a host of singers croon to perfection this stunning composition from Rahman. World music at its best!

Shenbagame Shenbagame, Saathu Nada (Ilaiyaraaja) - One of the very few Tamil songs sung by Asha Bhosle and melodious ones at that.

Va Va Va Kanna Va (Velaikaran, Ilaiyaraaja) - A very tuneful melody from the maestro sung beautifully by Mano and Chithra.

Maasi Masam Alana Ponnu (Dharma Durai, Ilaiyaraaja) - Sensuous and mellifluous in equal measure, Ilaiyaraaja weaves his magic in style.
