Recent Listens: Ilaiyaraaja, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Vishal-Shekhar & More

Some of my recent listens from Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Ilaiyaraaja, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Pritam...

Oru Vela Raavinnakam (Sreevalsan J. Menon, Swapaanam) - A stunner of a classical piece delivered flawlessly by Lekha R. Nair. The kanjira, chenda and violins make for a mesmerising backdrop.

Tujhe Bhula Diya (Vishal-Shekhar, Anjaana Anjaani) -  A plaintive quasi-qawwali, accentuated further by Mohit Chauhan's superb singing.

Kalyana Then Nila (Ilaiyaraaja, Mounam Sammadham) - One of the many evergreen melodies from the maestro, and my god, what beautiful lyrics!

Enna Saththam Indha Neram, Yedhedho Ennam Valarthen, Theme Music (Ilaiyaraaja, Punnagai Mannan) - Timeless is the word.

Uff Teri Adaa (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Karthik Calling Karthik) - Where classical meets dance floor in an addictive fusion.

Khwabon Ke Parindey (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) - Mohit Chauhan and Alyssa Mendonsa, enough said!

Bol Na Halke Halke (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom) - One of my favourite songs from the composer trio. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Mahalakshmi Iyer, needless to say, rock.

Aao Na, Pyaar Ki Dastaan, Kal Ho Naa Ho (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) - Superbly tuned and wonderfully sung melodies; love Sadhana Sargam's voice in Aao Na by the way.

Iktara (Amit Trivedi, Wake Up Sid) - A stunning pensive melody from Amit Trivedi featuring Kavita Seth's lovely vocals.

Tu Hi Haqeeqat (Pritam Chakraborty, Tum Mile) - The song (along with Jashn-E-Bahaara) that introduced me to Javed Ali.

Tune Jo Naa Kaha, Abhi Kuch Dino Se (Pritam Chakraborty) - Pritam and Mohit Chauhan have delivered a lot of hits together no doubt, but these two melodies feature at the top of my list.
